  • The AppleScript installer for the 4-Sight FAX v6.0 Print Driver Fix on Intel-powered Macs requires StuffIt Expander®, a free download available from Smith Micro®.

4-Sight FAX Version 7.0.10 - August 21, 2008

- FAX Server: This release represents a major upgrade to the 4-Sight FAX Server Fax/modem engine. It provides compatibility for more modems, more fax machines and improves modem (and fax machine) communications and reliability, specifically with Class 1 modems and a wider variety of fax machines. This release was aimed at providing a solution to wedge modem states, which were occuring with greater frequency with Class 1 modems under newer releases of the Macintosh Leopard operating system.

- FAX Server: Added support for two (2) new modems. The MultiTech MT9234MU and the Multitech MT9234ZBA USB v92 modems.

- FAX Client: When the FAX Server is operating under Macintosh OS X, 10.5.4 or later, the client software could no longer see the server listed when creating a new account. This forced the user to obtain and physically type the 4-Sight FAX Server IP address into the new account window in the client. Both the Macintosh and Windows Clients now use Bonjour libraries and all FAX servers running under the Subnet appear almost instantly. Under Windows, this requires the installation of the Windows Bonjour libraries for our client code to operate correctly. On Macintosh OS X, Bonjour is automatically installed. This new update lists all Fax servers on the current subnet within 0 to 4 seconds versus the 10 to 15 seconds prior to this update.

- FAX Client: Corrected a bug when the Client software quit whenever it was physically located anywhere outside it's default "4-Sight FAX Client" folder. The problem occured when the Client failed to locate the "Languages" folder. Now, the Client will automatically default to the English language (sorry Europe and Asia), when it is located somewhere other than the default location.

4-Sight FAX Version 7.0.9 - May 16, 2008

- Implemented support for an English language file providing the end user the ability to customize button labels and program text strings.

4-Sight FAX Version 7.0.8 - May 6, 2008

4-Sight FAX Server 7.0.8

- Implemented support for the US Robotics 5637 USB modem.
- An "Automatic Disconnect" menu item has been added to the Setup-> Security Setup to allow users to be logged out after a specified period of inactivity.
- New for Class 1 modems: If CallerID is used for incoming fax and the calling number matches a Server address book entry, the Company value is automatically assigned in the "From" field.
- If there is a leading "+" character from a recipient's fax number, it is now replaced with the International dial code.
- Incoming faxes now have a ".tif" extension added to their corresponding TIFF file.

4-Sight FAX Client 7.0.8

- Fixed periodic queue update requests to the Fax Server, which were causing users to get logged off in certain circumstances.

.

4-Sight FAX Version 7.0.5 - November 8, 2007

Note: There is a known issue with the Apple Address Book under Mac OS X Leopard that causes 4-Sight FAX Client v7.0.5 to fail when New Fax is selected.

On October 30, 2007, the original 7.0.5 release was posted. The updated Fax Client v7.0.5 released on November 8th, 2007 bypasses the fields in the Apple Address Book that trigger the failure when the "New Fax" option is selected.

Please ensure you are using the 7.0.5 release dated November 8th or later. Customers who download this updated Fax Client v7.0.5 will be able to use the Apple Address Book for the fields required to send a fax.

The following fields are bypassed in the Apple Address Book:

- street address
- city
- state
- zip
- country
- countrycode

When Apple releases a patch to the API for the Apple Address Book, we will remove the exclusion of the above fields so that Fax Client v7.0.5 will again have access to all available information.

Here is the procedure to control use of the Apple Address Book in Fax Client v7.0.5:

1. Launch Fax Client
2. Select Fax Client on the menu bar
3. Select Preferences
4. Select Advanced tab
5. Check or uncheck "Include contacts from Apple Address Book" as desired
6. Click OK
